L'interruttore a galleggiante viene utilizzato in combinazione con pompe fognarie sommerse o pompe sommerse a pressione. L'interruttore accende o spegne automaticamente la pompa in base al livello dell'acqua. Modificando la posizione del peso sul cavo di alimentazione è possibile regolare l'altezza del livello a cui l'interruttore a galleggiante deve accendere o spegnere la pompa.
